The Buzz - which I have wanted since I first saw a VW Bus - doesn't stand a chance as an electric vehicle in Alaska :-(

Johnny is a nice guy certainly comes across that way however he has a petrol Jimny and will be able to afford an I'd buzz for the weekend etc as with all well paid folks best of all world's sorry but in reality us mere mortals can only afford what we can afford having not well paid jobs so unfortunately will be sticking to ice vehicles that cost £3k to £5k especially if your like me n do less than 3k miles a year or less

The I'd buzz is brilliant but yet again destined for the wealthy way too expensive when it comes to market in 2022/3 for normal hard working folks who have normal jobs

Even with electric cars or renewable energy won’t solve the damage big corporations have done to the environment. There are to many companies with enough influence in governments around the world. I haven’t even mentioned greenwashing which is another tactic used by companies to show how sustainable they are. It’s issues like these that are part of the underlying problem. The earth is doomed and there is no way of saving it after 200 years of pumping out toxic chemicals into the air.

They floated this concept 3 years ago to excite people after Dieselgate. That is because they were building their near-term future on small, clean diesel engines and got caught fudging the numbers. Now they can't sell diesels in the US anymore and were years away from having a viable EV. So they faked it with a concept that they knew would be many years in the future.

Designer who grew up looking at vw bugs in Mexico City must have been given advantage of visual and memory to help with design . Their are so many advantages to electric vehicles it’s endless . Range will get their eventually. Autonomous Transport rigs can stop at predetermined charging Stations to fill up ! Cheaper to make Then petrol car with less parts .

The Allegro steering wheel lives again!

IDK why some of the people here are complaining about the design. It can't look exactly like the original bus due to safety reasons. I loved the flat nose, but that won't pass modern safety regulations. That's really the only difference. And the captian's chairs for the center seats and the ability to swivel the front seats are an improvement on the Transport/Camper. And FYI, had several of the original vans growing up. Dad used to work on the engines ALOT. So very familiar with them.

If this is priced inexpensively and can be fully self driving I will seriously consider buying one of these at some point...

I must admit I can't quite make the EV jump for certain limitations in my area and lifestyle. Yet I might try to make changes to make the ID Buzz work for me. I loved my old van back in the day. I would love a new EV version. It makes my nostalgia work in overdrive.

This is so sad. They took an beautiful, iconic vehicle and made it ugly. My family had one all through my childhood and I loved it. I was so excited to hear they were bringing them back and was looking forward to buying one, but this looks nothing like the original. I wouldn't want it, even at half the price.

the "snub nose" is the major drawback of both the old and the new version. With no engine to protect you, in a head on collision your legs would be instantly severed, if you're lucky..

Well, even though I love the idea, unfortunately while the giants of capitalism are selling those little toy by argue that you are making a great choice by buying it because your are becoming environmentally friendly ( making you less guilty) , on the other side of the planet, people are harvesting the special mineral that those cars need in condition that you wouldn’t imagine, and while you might feel super good driving oil free, it is in fact making more damage than having a diesel car.
